The Challenge
Located along a major interstate in northern Maryland, Harford County was often viewed as a rural pass-through area. It was time to build a brand identity that highlighted Harford County as a vibrant, accessible destination full of opportunities.
The Clarity
Just off I-95, Harford County is closer than travelers think—and more than they imagine.
The Transformation
We used Harford County’s ease of access as a major advantage, positioning it as a friendly, close-to-home destination welcome to all.
First things first—Harford County Tourism needed a unique, memorable name and logo. “Hello Harford County” brings the neighborly, welcoming vibes, and a sunflower motif represents the county’s iconic moments and vibrant culture.
Digital out-of-home display units were strategically placed in high-traffic areas such as highways, tourist routes and near popular attractions—all promoting a fast and easy getaway to Harford County.
Hello Harford County’s inaugural campaign included digital ads promoting three motivators for quick, accessible getaways: breweries, restaurants and outdoor activities.
A fresh website serves as the destination for paid media, as well as a central hub for trip planning with activities, hotels, restaurants and events.
Results and Impact
During the brand’s launch year, county traffic from target markets increased by 3.9% compared to the previous year.
